Rushern Baker

Rushern Baker is an American politician and lawyer. He is a former mayor of Prince George's County, Maryland, and a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates. Baker was born in 1963 in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Howard University and later earned a law degree from the University of Maryland. Baker began his career as a lawyer, working for various law firms. He later entered politics, serving in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2003 to 2007. Baker was elected mayor of Prince George's County in 2006 and served two terms. He was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 but lost the primary. Baker is known for his advocacy on issues such as education and economic development. He has also been a vocal critic of systemic racism and has worked to promote diversity and inclusion in the Democratic Party.
