Richard Winters was a US Army Major during World War II. He was the commander of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Winters was a key figure in the D-Day landings and the liberation of Paris. He was also a key figure in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Remagen Bridge. Winters was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during the war. After the war, Winters became a successful businessman and author. He wrote several books about his experiences during the war, including the memoir "Band of Brothers". Winters was also a motivational speaker and worked with veterans to help them adjust to civilian life. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 92.
