Raymond Dart

Raymond Dart was a South African paleontologist who made the groundbreaking discovery of the Taung Child, a fossilized skull of a human ancestor. Born in 1893 in Kimberley, South Africa, Dart studied medicine at the University of Cape Town before turning to paleontology. He worked at the Transvaal Museum in Pretoria, where he made the discovery that would change the field of paleontology. Dart's find was initially met with skepticism, but it eventually led to a greater understanding of human evolution. He was a pioneer in the field of paleoanthropology and made significant contributions to our knowledge of human origins. Dart passed away in 1988.
