Pope Benedict IX

Pope Benedict IX was the Pope of the Catholic Church from 1032 to 1044. He was a member of the Tusculani family and was elected Pope at the age of 21. During his papacy, he was known for his controversy and scandal. He was eventually deposed and replaced by Pope Sylvester III. Pope Benedict IX is also known for his involvement in the Investiture Controversy, a major conflict between the Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Empire.
