Indian independence activist and politician
Jawaharlal Nehru was an Indian independence activist and politician who served as the first Prime Minister of India from 1947 to 1964. He was born in Allahabad, India in 1889 and studied law in London. Nehru was a key figure in the Indian National Congress and played a leading role in the Indian independence movement. He was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and was instrumental in drafting the Indian Constitution. Nehru was a strong advocate for socialism and secularism, and his government implemented a range of policies aimed at promoting economic development and social justice. He died in 1964, but his legacy continues to shape Indian politics and society.
