Virologist and researcher
Michael Houghton is a British virologist and researcher who discovered the hepatitis C virus. He was born in 1944 in London, England, and received his medical degree from the University of London. Houghton has made significant contributions to the field of virology and has been recognized for his work with several awards, including the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize. He is currently a professor of molecular biology at the University of Sheffield.
