Born in 1892 in San Francisco, California, Brand wrote under several pseudonyms, including John Norman Collins and Frederick Faust. He was a prolific writer, producing over 100 novels and short stories during his lifetime. Brand's work has been adapted into numerous films, television shows, and stage productions. He died in 1944 at the age of 52.
