Mary Barnard

Mary Barnard was a Canadian poet and writer born in 1909 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She studied at Reed College and corresponded with Ezra Pound. Barnard published several books of poetry and was known for her spare, direct style. She returned to Vancouver after her studies and lived there until her death. Barnard's work is being celebrated this National Poetry Month.
