Roman Emperor and Stoic Philosopher
Markus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor and philosopher who ruled from 161 to 180 AD. He is best known for his book 'Meditations', which is a collection of personal reflections and musings on Stoic philosophy. Born in Rome in 121 AD, Aurelius was a member of the imperial family and was educated in Greek and Roman philosophy. He became Emperor at the age of 38 and ruled for 22 years, during which time he wrote 'Meditations'. Aurelius was a strong advocate for Stoicism and believed in living in accordance with nature. He is considered one of the greatest philosophers of all time and his writings continue to be widely read and studied today.
