Maria Goretti was an Italian Catholic nun and martyr. She was born in 1890 and died in 1902 at the age of 12. Goretti was known for her piety and her devotion to her faith. She was canonized as a saint in 1947. Goretti's story has been the subject of various books and films, including the book 'I Killed Maria Goretti' by Michael Lichens.
