Margaret Mary Alacoque was a French nun who lived in the 17th century. She was a mystic and a devout Catholic who was known for her deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is best known for her role in popularizing devotion to the Sacred Heart and for her work in alleviating the suffering of the Poor Souls in Purgatory. Margaret Mary was martyred during the French Revolution and was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. She is still revered today as a model of Catholic devotion and spirituality.
