Marcus Garvey

Marcus Garvey was a Jamaican-American civil rights leader and activist who fought for the rights of African Americans during the early 20th century. He was a key figure in the Pan-African movement and was known for his advocacy of black nationalism and self-reliance. Garvey was born in Jamaica in 1887 and immigrated to the United States in 1916. He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and the Black Star Line, and was a prominent figure in the Harlem Renaissance. He died in 1940.
