Machioko Hasegawa (1920-1992) was a Japanese manga artist and the first woman to become a professional manga artist in Japan. She is best known for her work on the manga series 'Sazae-san', which is considered one of the most popular and influential manga series in Japanese history. Hasegawa's work often focused on the lives of women and the challenges they faced in a patriarchal society.
