Leo XIII was the Hannah and Paul Blumenthal Professor of Catholic Theology at the University of Notre Dame. He was a prominent Catholic theologian and writer who served as Pope from 1878 to 1903. During his papacy, he issued several important encyclicals, including Rerum Novarum, which addressed the social and economic issues of the time. He is also known for his efforts to reform the Catholic Church and promote its teachings. Leo XIII was a native of Italy and is considered one of the most important popes of the 20th century.
