Judith Heumann

Judith Heumann is a disability rights activist and advocate who has been a leading figure in the disability rights movement for over four decades. Born in 1947, Heumann grew up in a family of activists and became involved in the disability rights movement at a young age. She has worked tirelessly to promote the rights of people with disabilities, including the right to education, employment, and equal access to public spaces. Heumann has received numerous awards for her work, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is also a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she teaches about disability rights and social justice. Heumann has been a vocal advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and has worked to challenge ableism and stigma in society. She has also been a key figure in the development of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
