Juan Sebastián Elcano was a Spanish conquistador and navigator who led the first expedition to circumnavigate the globe. He was born in 1476 in Biscay, Spain and died in 1526 in the Philippines. Elcano is best known for completing the first circumnavigation of the globe after the death of his leader, Ferdinand Magellan.
