Jorge Bolet was a Cuban-born pianist and conductor. He studied at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Bolet was particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Liszt. He conducted the first performance of The Mikado in Tokyo and was a frequent guest conductor at the New York Philharmonic.
