John Neumann was a Catholic bishop and saint who served as the fourth bishop of Philadelphia from 1873 until his death in 1876. Born in Bavaria, Germany, Neumann immigrated to the United States and became a prominent figure in the Catholic Church in America. He was known for his tireless work in establishing parishes and schools, and his devotion to the poor and marginalized. Neumann was beatified by Pope Paul VI in 1963 and is now revered as a saint by the Catholic Church.
