John Gresham Machen was a Scottish-American theologian, philosopher, and Presbyterian minister. He was a prominent figure in the Reformed tradition and a key figure in the founding of Westminster Theological Seminary. Machen was a strong advocate for the authority of the Bible and the importance of Christian orthodoxy. He was also a vocal critic of modernism and liberalism in theology. Machen was born in 1889 and died in 1973. He is best known for his writings on theology and philosophy, particularly his critiques of modernism and liberalism.
