John B Keane

John B Keane was an Irish playwright, novelist, and actor. He is best known for his plays, which often explored the lives of ordinary people in rural Ireland. Keane was born in 1934 in Listowel, County Kerry, and began his career as a playwright in the 1960s. His plays often dealt with themes of poverty, inequality, and social justice. Keane was also a prolific actor and appeared in numerous stage productions throughout his career. He was awarded the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best New Play for his play 'The Field' in 1965. Keane passed away in 2002.
