Joel Poinsett

Joel Poinsett was an American botanist, diplomat, and politician. He served as the first U.S. Ambassador to Mexico from 1825 to 1829. Poinsett was a prominent figure in the early history of the United States and played a key role in the development of the country's foreign policy. He was also a skilled botanist and discovered several new plant species, including the poinsettia. Poinsett was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and served as a senator from South Carolina.
