Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America, serving from 1861 to 1865. He was a West Point graduate and a career military officer, but he is best known for his role as the leader of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Davis was a strong advocate for states' rights and the institution of slavery.
