Dutch astronomer and professor
Jan Hendrik Oort was a Dutch astronomer and professor who made significant contributions to our understanding of the solar system. He is best known for his work on the Oort Cloud, a distant region of icy bodies surrounding the Sun. Oort was born in 1911 in the Netherlands and passed away in 1992. He was a fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and received numerous awards for his work, including the Copley Medal.
