Nobel Prize-winning economist
James M. Buchanan was an American economist and political scientist who was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1986. He is best known for his work on public choice theory and his criticism of democracy. Buchanan was a professor of economics at George Mason University and was a prominent figure in the development of libertarian thought. He was also a vocal critic of government intervention in the economy and was a strong advocate for limited government.
