James Hardy Vaux

James Hardy Vaux was an Australian gentleman thief and writer. He is best known for writing Australia's first dictionary of convict slang. Vaux was born in 1791 in England and immigrated to Australia in 1812. He was a member of the New South Wales Corps and was known for his cunning and bravery. Vaux was also a talented writer and poet. He wrote several books and articles, including his dictionary of convict slang. Vaux died in 1861 in Sydney, Australia.
