Henkjan Honing

Henkjan Honing is a Dutch cognitive neuroscientist who has made significant contributions to the field of music cognition. He is a professor at the University of Amsterdam and has published numerous papers on the neural basis of music perception and production. Honing's research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying music processing, and he has used a range of techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG), to study music perception in both healthy individuals and those with neurological disorders. He is also a skilled musician and has performed with various ensembles. Honing has received several awards for his research, including the prestigious Gairdner Foundation International Award. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the International Society for Music Information Retrieval. Honing has also been a guest lecturer at various institutions, including Harvard University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
