Harold Evans was a British journalist and editor. He worked as the editor of The Northern Echo in the 1960s and was a prominent campaigner for cervical smear tests. Evans was also the editor of The Sunday Times and highlighted the problems of Thalidomide. He was sacked by Rupert Murdoch when he bought The Times.
