Gregory Benford is an American physicist, educator, and award-winning science fiction author. He is a professor of physics at the University of California, Irvine, and has written several science fiction novels, including the Galileo's Dream trilogy. Benford has also written non-fiction books on physics and astronomy, and has been a finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Novel. He is a member of the American Physical Society and has been involved in various science fiction organizations.
