Général Claude-François de Malet was a French military officer who attempted to overthrow Napoleon's regime in 1812. Interned in a mental institution, he orchestrated a plot to seize power in Paris, using his military uniform and a forged decree to rally supporters. His coup attempt ultimately failed, and he was captured and executed.
