Francesco Zuppi
Italian cardinal and Catholic theologian
Francesco Zuppi is an Italian cardinal and Catholic theologian. He was born in 1969 in Bologna, Italy. Zuppi studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and was ordained as a priest in 1996. He served as the bishop of Modena-Nonantola from 2011 to 2016. Zuppi was appointed as the cardinal-deacon of Santa Maria in Porta Lunga in 2016. He is known for his advocacy on social justice and human rights.
