Portuguese explorer
Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer who led the first expedition to circumnavigate the globe. He was born in Portugal in 1480 and died in the Philippines in 1521. Magellan is best known for his role in the discovery of the Strait of Magellan at the tip of South America.
