French Jesuit priest and missionary
Father Jacques Marquette was a French Jesuit priest and missionary who played a key role in the exploration and settlement of North America. He was born in 1637 in Quebec and served as a missionary among the Native American tribes. Marquette was known for his kindness and compassion, and he worked tirelessly to convert the Native Americans to Christianity. He died in 1675 at the age of 38.
