Edna St. Vincent Millay was an American poet, playwright, and feminist. Born in Rockland, Maine, Millay grew up in a family of modest means and developed a love for literature at an early age. She attended Vassar College and later Harvard University, where she studied literature and philosophy. Millay's poetry is known for its lyricism and exploration of themes such as love, loss, and feminism. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1923 and was also a prominent figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
