Edel Quinn was a Catholic nun who was born in Kanturk, Co. Cork in 1907. She was diagnosed with tuberculosis in the 1930s and was unable to enter the Poor Clares. Instead, she joined the Legion of Mary and went on the first Legion pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1934. She continued to work with the Legion, traveling to England and Wales, and eventually moved to Africa, where she spent the rest of her life. She died in 1944. Edel Quinn is remembered for her courage and determination in the face of adversity.
