Dr. Robert Smith Silkworth was an American physician who co-founded Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a key figure in the development of the disease model of addiction and was a prominent figure in the early days of AA. Dr. Silkworth was a physician who specialized in treating addiction and was a strong advocate for the use of medication to treat addiction. He was also a close friend and mentor to Bill Wilson.
