Dr. Ismail Haniyeh

Dr. Ismail Haniyeh is the current president of Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist organization. Born in 1952 in Gaza City, Gaza Strip, Dr. Haniyeh has been a key figure in Hamas since its founding in the 1980s. He has served as the prime minister of the Gaza Strip and has been a leading voice in Palestinian politics. Dr. Haniyeh has also been involved in various international efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has a PhD in medicine from the University of Damascus.
