Donna Shalala

Donna Shalala is an American politician who served as the 51st U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services from 1993 to 2001, and as a U.S. Representative for Florida's 27th congressional district from 2013 to 2023. She is a Democrat and a former president of the University of Miami. Shalala is known for her work on healthcare reform and her advocacy for women's rights and social justice. She was born on January 13, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Yale University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
