Charles Masson was a Scottish explorer, archaeologist, and spy. He was born in 1821 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and studied at the University of Edinburgh. Masson was a member of the East India Company and served as a spy in Afghanistan during the First Anglo-Afghan War. He was known for his bravery and his ability to navigate the treacherous terrain of Afghanistan. Masson was also a skilled archaeologist and discovered several ancient cities in Afghanistan, including the city of Bamiyan. He was a prolific writer and published several books on his adventures and discoveries. Masson died in 1864 in Kabul, Afghanistan.
