Carl W. Ernst

Carl W. Ernst is a professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an expert in Islamic studies, Sufism, and the history of Islamic thought. Ernst has written extensively on the intersection of Islam and Western culture. He is also a practicing Sufi and has taught meditation and spirituality at various institutions. Ernst has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship. He is currently working on a book about the history of Sufi thought in the West.
