Carl Sandburg was an American poet, writer, and educator. He is best known for his poetry collections, such as 'Chicago Poems' and 'Complete Poems'. Sandburg was born in Galesburg, Illinois, and grew up in a family of modest means. He studied at the University of Illinois and later at the University of Chicago, where he earned his master's degree. Sandburg worked as a journalist and editor before becoming a full-time writer. He was a prominent figure in American literature and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1950. Sandburg was also a strong advocate for social justice and was involved in various causes throughout his life.
