Barronelle Stuzman

Barronelle Stuzman is the owner of Arlene's Flowers, a floral shop in Richland, Washington. In 2012, Stuzman refused to create wedding flowers for a same-sex couple, citing her Christian faith. The couple, Breen and Robert Miller, sued Stuzman and the state of Washington, alleging that the state's anti-discrimination law required her to provide services. The case ultimately made its way to the US Supreme Court, where it was decided in 2018 in the landmark case Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Stuzman has become a prominent figure in the debate over LGBTQ+ rights and freedom of conscience.
