Anita Heiss

Anita Heiss is a Wiradjuri woman and a prolific author. She is a Professor of Communications at The University of Queensland. Many of her books focus on great love stories, and the inspiration for these romances came from the enduring, devoted love she saw between her parents. Anita Heiss is also a Wiradjuri language speaker and has written extensively on Indigenous and colonial history. She has won several awards for her writing, including the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Best Unpublished Manuscript.
