Alexandre Farnèse

Alexandre Farnèse (1545–1592) was a prominent Italian cardinal and statesman who played a significant role in the Catholic Church during the 16th century. Born into the powerful Farnese family, he became a cardinal at a young age and later served as the governor of several territories. His life was deeply affected by the Sack of Rome in 1527, which spurred his efforts to reform the Catholic Church.
