Alec Guinness was a highly acclaimed English actor known for his powerful and nuanced performances on stage and screen. Born on April 2, 1914, in Blackheath, London, Guinness began his acting career in the 1930s and went on to become one of the most respected actors of his generation. He is perhaps best known for his iconic roles in films such as Lawrence of Arabia and The Bridge on the River Kwai, for which he won numerous awards, including two Academy Awards. Guinness passed away on August 5, 2000, at the age of 86.
