Ahmad al-Assad

Ahmad al-Assad, commonly referred to as Bashar al-Assad, is the former President of Syria from 2000 until his resignation in the context of the Syrian Civil War. He is known for his controversial leadership and the severe repression of political dissent, which led to widespread civil unrest and ultimately the civil war. His regime continues to face international condemnation.
