Yazeed Guilty in Aniah Blanchard Murder

He's been found guilty of felony murder and straight-up murder in the 2019 death of 19-year-old Anaya Blanchard. That means no capital murder conviction, so the death penalty is off the table. Prosecutors built their case around Yazeed, grabbing Blanchard from an Auburn convenience store one night in October. After days of testimony from cops, forensics, folks, and witnesses, the defense pushed back on the timeline and evidence. The whole saga hit hard nationwide, sparking a huge search when she vanished from a gas station video. It even pushed Alabama lawmakers to pass Anaya's law, letting judges deny bond to folks charged with serious violent crimes.
