牛郎織女在鵲女、老牛、大姐的幫忙下，欲逃往人間。逃亡過程，驚險萬分。王母投擲寶杖，化為天河，阻擋牛郎織女。牛郎織女在波濤中翻滾，差點滅頂。老牛哥張口吸乾天河，拯救二人；又大戰天狼，讓牛郎織女順利下凡。牛郎織女初到人間，感受到一般凡夫俗婦的喜樂、塵世的繁華與情義，大為感動，深深覺得不虛此行。但是，天狼也追下人間，幻化為道士，勸二人投靠趙大戶謀生。
