呂布回府後才發現，董卓並非要將貂蟬許配呂布，於是偷進太師房中，要找貂蟬詢問，不料被董卓發現，貂蟬周旋於此二人，挑波離間，董卓就此心生猜忌，但考慮到日後呂布還有用之處，先將怒火壓下，命呂布保護董卓上朝面君，本來想在朝廷上好好誇獎呂布，卻發現呂布早已離開，心中焦慮呂布會回太師府又找貂蟬，趕緊回府。
