王景隆住進勾欄院一年整，三萬六千銀亦花用殆盡，王八虔婆趁著玉堂春外出之際，強將病中的王景隆趕出院門。金哥得知王景隆無處安身，窮困潦倒的只得寄居關王廟，即報與玉堂春知情。玉堂春趁深夜無人，與金哥趕赴關王廟探望贈銀，勸慰王景隆應振作歸鄉赴考，高中迎娶佳人，兩人在關王面前立下女不另嫁男不娶的堅貞誓言，難依難捨的分別了。
