漁夫阿水抓到一隻蟾蜍，本要抓至街上賣，遇到正要回家的萬三，萬三將阿水的蟾蜍買下後放生，讓蟾蜍躲過被殺命運。 麗娘在家等候萬三回家，萬三因為做善事開心得跑回家，麗娘以為萬三生意好，向萬三收錢，豈知萬三將所得買得蟾蜍放生，麗娘微怒，抱怨萬三並未為生活考量，萬三見麗娘生氣，趕緊向麗娘道歉，麗娘見萬三出自善心，也就作罷。
